A poem for James Brown
You were a man that knew how to take control
Always & forever the undisputed Godfather of Soul.
You were a man that let lose be it with dance or
the microphone. Through your songs you made us
think about life with a style that was all your owm.
Because of you, you made it cool for me to shout it out loud.
& it's because of you I'm not scared or ashamed
to say that I'm black & I'm proud!
