Thoughts of a DJ: Return of Weekday morning cartoons.

Hello there one & all. Its DJ Dizzy here & this time around I got some awesome news starting today weekend & weekday cartoons are hereby back! Okay this was announced not too long ago a new block called Kids Click which involves cartoons for the whole family can get into

Here's a peek of the commercial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MghPCbCXEmc

But anyway this brings me to a topic that I've been meaning to cover for a while which involves a really ridiculous question: Are people told to watch cartoons anymore? My main answer would be only these 2 words HELL NO!! First off seriously?! that's like saying is anyone too old to have a sense of humor regardless of how old you get there's always going to be cartoons designed for a certain age group.

We all grew up on them from the time you wake up to the time you come home. Cartoons are a great way to relax & help you get away from the stress of everyday life. Plus lets not forget some of the characters that you might've liked either by look, personality, or voice.

(For me it was always the voice & personality.) But I digress other than that there were some characters that you could relate to cause at one time you were like that

Also lets not forget the memories they created I mean we all have a favorite episode that reminds you of a special day or just watch it for the sake of it that & there are some that are guilty pleasures. (Cough, cough, action adventure cartoons. ) But also to see something like this making a comeback its been a long time coming. So I have to say that I hope that this works out for them.

Maybe in the future if all goes well we might even see cartoons making a comeback weekday afternoons as well. (Hopefully)

It starts on July 1st & they will be showing the following shows

Pac- Man & the Ghostly Adventures

Scary Larry

Sonic X

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

Max Steel

These are  just some of what to expect.

Here's a link to the site for some info

So be on the lookout for the upcoming block Just thought I'd give a heads up. So I'll be on my way

Until then keep calm, rock n roll & STAY FROSTY!!!

Thoughts of a DJ: MTV Classic Review

Hello there everyone its the DJ coming at you & I'm doing an overdo review of a certain music channel. That of MTV Classic

Okay now for some that don't know at one time it used to be VH1 Classic & this channel debuted last year on August 1st to showcase MTV shows from the late 90s & early 2000s as well as music from the 80s. Now my thoughts on the channel would also show case TV shows & movies from its original channel such as MTV's Oddities, Real World, & Clone High. (These are the shows I mentioned in a previous article for those that don't recall.)

But in all honesty I'll say this I liked it better when it was VH1 Classic cause at least they had more to go on. They did music videos, shows, concerts, & movies for the viewing audience they also provided that bit of 80s & 90s nostalgia for all of us gen X kids out there which I rather enjoyed.

Here's something from their video vault

VH1 Classic playlist

So here's the real question WTF went wrong?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1gp1LVy4sk

I have to say my main thought is though I like that they're all about the music but when it was VH1 classic it was more than that they had actual shows such as "That Metal Show" in which you could find out all about the newest & iconic heavy metal & hard rock acts.

There was also the Friday night Rock Block where they showcased concerts every Friday night as well as over the weekend when given a chance.  But I'll say this about it there's things I miss about it like the Friday Night Rock Block amongst other things but I digress.

Point is if you have a good thing going then the best thing to do is not to ruin it. So I say it should go back to using the VH1 name since they were not just about music but also movies & shows & that's something we should see more of. Balance things out.

Thoughts of a DJ: The Splat review

Hello one & all it's The DJ coming right at you with a new review of a block which I'm sure you know & love that of the Splat

Now this lovely little block debuted a while back & originally it was called the 90s are All That since they'd showed episodes of it on the block & then later on would reinvent themselves as The Splat.  The shows are the classic Nick shows that we all had the pleasure of watching such as Doug, Rug rats , Hey Arnold, & Rocket Power to name a few.

In addition they also air music videos & some thoughts on the block in between commercial breaks mainly from festival goers which is pretty cool since there are people that grew up on the classics. So it looks something like this:

What does 90s nick mean to you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3CKT9M9qWY

I can highly relate because this was the channel that we all grew up on & when they were about good cartoons & shows that was when they were at their hey day so for them to do a block dedicated to the classics just gives you a feeling of 90s nostalgia it feels good to see what we had the pleasure of growing up on as kids.

But maybe that's not enough. I remember way back when there was a channel called Nick toons TV in which they did the same thing & aired of course had interviews with some of the voice actors & aired no commercials. But unfortunately changed dramatically but I digress.

So I'll say this about the Splat its cool that there's a block to give us adult audiences something to watch but as for a channel dedicated to the classics  that's something that I'd love to see on TV once again the same can be said for the following:

Disney XD

Cartoon Network

Discovery Family

Boomerang

While I'm a big fan of the classics balance out the old with the new & lets not forget the past instead of doing away with things altogether as for some rebooted shows while its better to leave some of them alone just think of it as a updated version of nostalgia from someone else's point of view with their own characters which we've seen some pretty decent remakes of. Just don't overdo it.

So  in closing my initial thoughts on The Splat would have to be only this this is the kind of block I could see really lasting & here's hoping that it does because there are a lot of people who enjoy the classics & it's a real treat to be watching these shows that we all grew up on. To whoever had the idea to do that God bless you & thanks so much for doing this.

Well I should get going but for now here's some tunes to get you going.
