Game Review: Osaka Street Stories

Hey there one & all DJ Dizzy here & I'm doing a review of another game this time around called Osaka Street Stories. This game takes place in the 90s (The year 1995 to be exact) in Osaka where both magic & Kami are real, crime is steady on the rise & the economy is looking grim to a point where people struggle to make ends meet.

But on the south side of Osaka just up above a subway there lies a pancake house where an adventure begins thanks to an envelop, that could prove to be threatening for the owners & a box the could house all kinds of secrets that even the owners are unknown to since no one really knows what kind of secrets it could actually contain. How you use it & what you do with it relies & depends squarely on you.

Each player can level up to 4 different levels but its gameplay is tightly constructed while some of the plot points can disintegrate higher level characters & each of them can have up to 3 to 5 in each party that you make. There are character sheets that can determine what class or diversity they're involved in & they're also premade. However this game uses plot points that can explode in the face of  any high level characters or disintegrate them entirely  & you can diversify from any of the prebuilt characters.

The main role of the Game Master or GM is to set the scene since in this game Osaka is a place full of violent activity where anything can happen & they can also provide the rules as to how everything all goes within the game but rather then rule against anything they provide encouragement amongst the players.

There's a lot to go on in the game as you try to discover why this box matters & the many secrets it may hold within it & its your job to keep it safe from any threats which include Yakuza or some corrupted & power hungry officials which you'll encounter along the way & receive awards in the process.

The rewards are wax doves which you'll receive when an opponent level drops or is defeated  but it depends on how many of them are dropped by an opponent & it can be equal to how many a PC can have as well. You may even encounter more items to obtain as rewards as the game goes on.

You also get your choice of consumables which can range from lesser & greater relics that may be useful when you take on an enemy in the game these relics can be weaponry such as dust bullets, pistol cufflinks, Tiny garnets & others. They each contain different abilities that you'll gain by way of skill points & each character comes with a skill or ability of some kind.

This game draws inspiration from action films such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon & The Matrix with its action based moves  & visual effects but these sort of things are to be expected while some of the characters can pull some outrageous stunts within the game & some of the antics help to bring things home.

So overall this sounds like this could be my kind of game from what I've seen so far so this is something I'd recommend even if you might be a beginner or a adrenaline junkie (Believe me when I say I love a good rush.)  it sounds interesting as far as the plot goes & anything can happen so the key thing is to outwit & outlast your opponent or anyone that you might encounter so most of all be on your guard at all times.

So if you're looking for something to spice up your game night or gameplay then feel free to take a look at this game.

Be radically righteous!
